DBIA Program Coordinator
Karen is Program Coordinator for the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA). Karen has 25 years of experience building and managing university and dairy industry collaborations. She was Director of the Babcock Institute for International Dairy Research and Development and was responsible for organizing over 180 courses for more than 8,000 participants from 84 countries. Karen also works as the Outreach Program Manager for the Nestlé China Dairy Farming Institute (DFI) Curriculum Development project in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Dairy Science, which aims to lift China’s emerging dairy industry. Raised on a farm and in small towns in rural Wisconsin, she has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College and a Master’s Degree in Chinese language, history and culture from the University of Minnesota. She believes that her work at CDR/DBIA can help rebuild and revitalize the dairy industry in the Upper Midwest by encouraging and supporting strong, resilient, profitable, innovative dairy farms and processors of all sizes.
